Legion Family
American Legion Auxiliary of Morris County
American Legion Auxiliary

Who we are:

The American Legion Auxiliary is the largest patriotic women's service organization in the world. Affiliated with The American Legion, the Auxiliary is a veterans' service organization with nearly one million members in approximately 10,000 American communities. Here in Morris County, New Jersey, we have Auxiliary Units at 17 Posts, representing almost 1,200 members. The organization is focused on three major areas of service: veterans and their families, young people and the community.

What we do:

Auxiliary volunteers are the backbone of assistance in 171 VA Medical Centers. The Auxiliary raises more than $18 million nationally every year and reinvests these funds in VA Medical Centers and a wide range of community programs. Auxiliary volunteers provide diversion, companionship and entertainment for patients and assist hospital staffmembers in physical and psychological therapy. Auxiliary programs, such as Girls State and Girls Nation, have become institutions within the communities and the nation. In addition, the Auxiliary supports and works with organizations such as Children's Miracle Network, Fisher House and the Red Cross. In Morris County and at community level, we are deeply involved in the community service, social and patriotic activities of our Posts and Units. From our programs at Lyons Veterans Hospital and Greystone Psychiatric Hospital, to youth/ educational programs and fun events, we are a vital part of the Legion Family.

Our Organization:

Like The American Legion, our organization follows a line from National Headquarters in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Department (state), to County, and then to community. County leadership comes from within the organization and provides opportunities for personal development, recognition, fulfillment, and the highest standards of service to others.

Membership Benefits:

As an Auxiliary Member, you may qualify for Emergency Assistance Grants, free Travel Accident Insurance, Prescription Discount Plan, supplemental life and healthcare insurance plans, and substantial discounts on phone service, car rentals, moving vans and travel/hotel arrangements.
